Overview

Pay range:  $30/hr. - $40/hr. based on experience

Hospice nurses provide end of life care to help ensure the comfort and quality of life for their patients.  They primarily work in collaborative, team-driven environments that require frequent communication with their patients, families and other caregivers.  The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, patient and calm.  Hospice nurses are caring and kind individuals who possess a special hospice heart who can help our patients celebrate the rest of their life’s journey.  

Responsibilities

Hours of operation:  7am - 7:30pm and EOW

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with departments and staff across the organization to provide excellent services to the patient.
  • Promptly and efficiently responds to patient related calls.
  • Provides quality professional telephonic intervention to patients based on the Plan of Treatment with regard to the physical, emotional and psychological needs of the patient, within Scope of Practice.

Qualifications

 

  1. Education/Regulatory Requirements:
    • RN degree from a college or university, accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and/or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
    • Florida licensed Registered Nurse.
    • BSN preferred.
    • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
    • Hospice Certification preferred.
  2. Skills:
    • Two years in home care, oncology nursing, medical/surgical nursing, geriatric nursing or Hospice nursing.
    • Possesses extensive knowledge of professional Nursing principles, practices, and procedures necessary to assess the needs of patients.
    • Understanding of and ability to apply characteristics of Hospice nursing, case management and crisis intervention.
    • EMR software experience a plus.
    • Proficient typing skills and office software applications is highly desirable.
  3. Professional Requirements:
    • Strong and effective telephone communication, teaching and thanatology and needs assessment skills.
    • Maintains effective and timely communication with the supervisor and/or team members via telephone, pagers, voicemail, e-mail and other identified means.
    • Able to work effectively with lay and professional volunteers.
  4. Language Skills:
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
