Overview

Pay range:  $26/hr. - $32/hr. based on experience

 

The nurse residency promotes holistic support from all levels of patient care to assist new nurses in developing competence and confidence in Hospice and Palliative Care. The program is designed to develop clinical skills and palliative knowledge through collaborative learning experiences using theoretical concepts related to hospice care, simulated learning scenarios, and hands-on clinical experience through the different levels of care.

Responsibilities

 

Hours of operation:  Three 12 hours shifts and one 4 hour shift with weekend rotation

 

  • The registered nurse is responsible to 1) coordinate the care for the patient/family under the direction of the primary physician, 2) conduct assessment of the patient/family needs, 3) develop the IDG (Interdisciplinary Group) Care Plan, and 4) ensure the implementation and coordination of the interventions and services described in the care plan.
  • Pledge to make the comfort and care of patients and families the highest priority
  • Consistently provide a high level of personalized, sincere and engaging service to patients and families at all times
  • Ensure the complete satisfaction of patients and families; promptly and effectively address all concerns

Qualifications

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. BSN preferred.
  • Requires a valid Florida driver's license, ability to drive, a reliable car, a good driving record, automobile insurance, and basic knowledge of the county territory.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school; maybe newly licensed (within the past two years, have less than one year of acute care experience, or are returning to practice following a significant absence from the nursing workforce.
  • Understands the characteristics of Hospice Nursing: case management, crisis intervention, communication skills, teaching skills, thanatology skills, and needs.
  • Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other Hospice care personnel. Able to coordinate with other health care providers in the delivery of patient care. Able to work effectively with lay and professional volunteers.
  • Basic computer skills and EMR software experience are a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
